All,
The Board has scheduled two Chrysalis Flights for this summer to be held at FUMC Midlothian .

The Boy’s Flight will be held July 22 through 24.
The Girl’s will be held July 29 through 31.

It has been several years since our Conference held a Chrysalis event, and apparently there are few who know how to get one started. We are looking to you for help. We cannot find any Youth to fill Team Positions because the Youth from the last Flights held, have grown up and many are now in college or elsewhere. Therefore the Board decided to utilize college aged young adults as the “Youth” Team Members. At least maybe we can get this thing going again, and build a new crop of Youth Team Members for future Fights.

We are also looking for CHRYSALIS EXPERIENCED ADULTS to help with the Flights. Additionally, we are looking for anyone else who wants to be on a Team.

We need to get this done quickly !!!!

Please respond to my home e-mail address, thehopkinsranch@juno.com if you know:

1.)   Chrysalis Experienced Youth (college age is okay) for LD, ALD, and Table Leader positions.
2.)   Chrysalis Experienced Adults interested in working on a Team.
3.)   Any other Emmaus Adults who would be interested in working on a Team
4.)   Finally, we will need Caterpillars (Pilgrims). Please start looking for youth, and communicate this opportunity to your Youth Pastors.

If you have any questions I hope that I can answer them. Please e-mail me at the above e-mail address, or you can try to call me at (972) 723-5060. E-mail works best.

De Colores,
Rob Hopkins

Carol Woods Named Brownwood DS

Bishop Mike Lowry announced Sunday, Feb. 14, the appointment of Carol Woods as superintendent of the Brownwood District, replacing Rev. James Olney who has taken incapacity leave while he undergoes treatment for cancer. This is Woods’ second appointment to a Cabinet position, having served as superintendent of the Northeast District of the North Texas Conference from 1997 to 2002. It was in 2002 that she transferred to the Central Texas Conference and was named senior pastor at Overton Park (now Arborlawn) United Methodist Church in Fort Worth. Two years later, she was named senior pastor at the 520-member First United Methodist Church of Mineral Wells, the position she currently holds. See more details at www.ctcumc.org.

Annual Conference Goes Green

In an effort to be more environmentally friendly and to reduce printing costs, Annual Conference information will be made available on the CTC website rather than by mailings this year.

All details concerning hotels, luncheons, childcare, as well as other aspects of Annual Conference, including the 2010 Preliminary Report, will be posted as they become available. You may view and download the information by clicking on the 2010 Annual Conference icon at www.ctcumc.org after this week.. We appreciate your support as the Central Texas Conference “goes green”!

This photo was taken at District Training.  The Youth Ministry session was for youth leaders and youth.  The youth had a project in the afternoon which involved building the highest tower from spaghetti and marshmallows.
